A Tithe of Silence
“The only thing more reliable than a dead man is a dead signal! You’re listening to deadman’s ghost..”
My dad said it like it was gospel—right before he vanished into one of those slick government “wellness retreats” in ’84.
Radio operator. Basement prophet. Always tinkering. Always listening.
So I grew up believing the basement hum—those vacuum tubes, that sacred crackle—was God taking deep, slow breaths between the wires.
But now? Now I’m the one with the headphones on.
Because the station’s still alive… just in a different space, time and format.
The world outside is a curated hallucination. The news tells us the Cold War ended, that the walls are coming down, that we’re entering an era of global cooperation. It’s a lovely fairy tale. The reality is that the walls aren’t coming down; they’re just being replaced by invisible ones,
woven from fiber optics, frequency technology, data centers, controlled by blackmail and corruption at the highest levels of every system on the globe.
